Having won a public procurement tender from the Fire and Rescue Department, Kalmetal executed the complete firefighter training tower project - spanning everything from engineering design and technical justification to manufacturing, testing, installation, and handover to the client.
The project was carried out in compliance with applicable European and Lithuanian technical regulations and standards, including Eurocode (EN 199x) design standards, EN 1090 requirements for steel structure fabrication and CE conformity, EN 1991-1-4 for wind load assessment, EN ISO 12100 for risk assessment and EN ISO 14122 for safe access requirements.
Project execution included the following:
- Risk assessment procedure in accordance with EN ISO 12100,
- Structural strength and stability calculations,
- Wind and dynamic load analysis,
- Calculations for bolted connections and anchoring,
- Preparation of a 3D model,
- Safe usage instructions,
- Preparation of assembly, operation, transport, and dismantling instructions,
- Manufacturing of the approved design according to the agreed schedule.
Prior to handover, tests regarding the structure's assembly, operation, and dismantling were conducted, confirming that the solution is safe, reliable, and suitable for intensive use. The project was successfully completed and officially handed over to the client ahead of the contractual deadline, ensuring full compliance with the public procurement technical specifications and applicable standards.
This project demonstrates Kalmetal’s expertise in executing complex, specialized steel structure projects - spanning from the initial concept and engineering calculations to the preparation of documentation, manufacturing, testing, and final handover. We apply this experience when delivering custom projects for clients in the industrial, sports, and public sectors, as well as for international clients.
